seaming a cast on edge to a cast off edge
I'm trying to seam the cast on edge of a sleeve to the cast off edge (to make the sleeve round). I tried a variation of the mattress stitch but the stitches seem to be going in the wrong direction. Also, due to cabling, the stitches are not very smooth in cabling sections. I'm knitting

Is that a seaming technique that's good for cast on and cast off edges? TIA, Marlene
