Q about picking up sts around neck.
:XX: I have to pick up sts around the neck of the sweater I am knitting to make a hood. I tried to do that yesterday but it didn't work quiet well. I have to pick up 34 sts starting at right side of neck, and leaving center 8 sts free, with the straight needles I was using to knit the sweater. Well, I picked up 30 sts and I couldn't do the remaining 4 because they just won't go on the straight needle - too tight, needle wouldn't move.
I was wondering, although the pattern doesn't ask for circular needles, can I do that with circulars. It would be much easier.
Also, I was thinking, maybe I could do it with 2 pair of straight needles. Pick up the sts from the right front side on one needle, continue picking up sts from the back on another needle, then pick up the sts from the left front side on third needle, and knit them with the forth needle. Sound little complicated. Only, I am wondering if I can keep the sts even when I transfer from one to another needle.
I came up with this idea last night in bed, LOL. I don't have circular needles so I was thinking about another way to do it without having to go shopping, because you know what happens when you find yourself in the yarn department.
What do you think?
