Tactile experience or speed?

I just recently got my first pair of Addi Turbos based on the love for them on this forum. I really like them! They're really fast and make a lovely clicky sound.

But I've found myself going and fondling the pretty warm wood of my Lantern Moon collection. I think I miss the feel of them in my hands and looking at them while I knit. My Addis seem cold in comparison.

Has anyone else had this delimma (sp)?

I can understand though--sometimes my Addis do get cold (after sitting in my car all day in freezing weather) but it sure doesn't take long to warm those babies up. :XX:

I think you should knit with whatever you want. I still have straight needles, and i always want straight needles. I like aluminum better than plastic because I like for it to get cold and I worry less about breaking it. Everyone has their own likes and feelings and you should enjoy every stitch of your knitting, no mater what needles you use.

I agree. I've tried Addi's and they're fun, but I love bamboo and wood best.

Boy, this sure is a personal thing.

All metal needles make my hands cold, regardless of the ambient temprature.
I don't like the slickness of the new (to me) needles,
and I tried bamboo and absolutely hated 'em.

My favorites my old Susan Bates needles that are made of nylon or luxite.

Depends on the yarn. Acrylics seem to fit well with Addis and 100% wool goes with Bamboo. Its all personal preferance

I have one pair of Addi's and while they are fast, I prefer my bamboo and wood needles. I love how they warm in my hands. I'm a process knitter, not a product knitter, so for me knitting is the whole experience. The only reason I own a pair of Addi's is because I was working on a hat for my dd and the dpn's just weren't cutting it. I needed a 16" size 2 pair of circular needles and Addi's were the only one in the LYS that came in that size. I *can* knit with just about anything (and as I proved to a friend even with take out chopsticks) but I prefer my soft smooth bamboo.
