decrease ????

help... I have never seen instructions like this and don't have a clue what they mean.... ugh

a total of 10 rows are worked in rib (got that!)

the last row you are supposed to do the following:

-(dec:dec:in:-dec)-1:2:1:-2) sts accdross last row
stitches have been reduced from 58 to 56

any idea what I'm supposed to do?

You only have to do two decreases so I'm not sure how you would do them 'across the row.' I'd probably just do one at each end.

making a sweater from Louisa Harding the Design Collection.... Do you think i should make the decrease at each end?

To be honest, since it's only two, that's what I would do. Are you switching to stockinette or some other pattern? Yeah, I'd just k2tog at each end.
