More Sweater issues

Okay so I got my yarn yesterday and this morning decided to knit this sweater for my hubby.All ready it is driving me nutso. Here is the part that is driving me mad:
cast on
77 stitches.
Begin working back and forth.
Row 1: work one wrong side row even.
Row 2: Set up �seams� as follows:
Increase into first stitch by knitting into the front and back of that stitch. M1, place marker 1, k3, M1, knit 13, M1, place marker 2, k3, M1, k33, M1, place marker 3, k3, M1, 13, M1, place
marker 4, k3, M1. Increase into last stitch. As you increase along the raglan sleeve seam lines, you will keep a three stitch wide column of stocking stitch between your pairs of increases. Center your stitch pattern repeats within each section (sleeves, back, front) and incorporate increases into the established pattern. 87, stitches.

Heres my question:
I knitted the first row and (counted over and over) got to the last few stitches on the second row. I run out of stitches before I can finish the second row.

I did it twice and got the same results Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong?

I get that you've should have enough stitches with the 77. Are you making a M1 stitch between two stitches, or are you doing all your increases kfb? You're only supposed to do kfb on the first and last stitches. If you're doing all the increases that way, you're using stitches that you're not supposed to.

Yup I was front and back looping all of them. I had a feeling that I was doing the wrong increase but just assumed that since it said that for the first stitch that it would be the same throughout. Thanks Ingrid!!!!

Okay so I have frogged completely since my last post twice, counted obsessivly so I am positive I have the correct amount CO but both times I got to row 2 and still have too many stitches. What could I be doing wrong?!

I am about to tell my hubby to forget the damn sweater

Any ideas?

I feel really dumb here... I can only come up with 73 stitches used in row 2.

The kfb at the beginning and end of the row each use up a stitch, but the m1s don't, so I just counted all the knitted stitches... I did it three times and only get 73. :thinking:

I don't know how I came up with 77 yesterday, buy double checking, I get 73 today, too. Several times. And the count after knitting row 2 comes out with 83.

I'm sorry if I confused you, but I think that once I realized that you were probably using the stitches for increases, I must have added 'creatively.'

You might want to contact the company for any corrections.

How do you work in the pattern row so that you still get the correct pattern when you are increasing? The pattern row is k, p3 across. But because I am increasing it is not the correct pattern.

Are you increasing at each end? If so, do the increase in the first and last stitches and work the pattern as you have been. Then when you get to the new stitches, just incorporate them into the pattern. The increases will be part of the seam and the columns of knits and purls will kind of branch out from the side. It'll look fine.

If you're not increasing on the ends, then ignore the above and give more details.

Row 3: Pattern stitch row 1, worked in pattern across increases.
Row 4: K1, M1, K2 before marker 1. M1, slip marker, k3, M1, k to before marker 2, M1, slip marker k3, M1, knit to before marker 3, M1, slip marker, k3, M1, k to before marker 4, M1, slip marker, k3, M1, k to last stitch, M1, k1.
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until piece measures 2.5 inches from beginning, ending after a
wrong side row.

its K1,P3 pattern, worked back and forth. Any suggestions?
