What to do with extra dpns?
I like to use aluminum dpns. I also like to use 5 dpns at once. Unfortunately, the nice slippery ones (I'm a bit of a tight knitter ) only seem to come in sets of 4, so I always end up buying 2 sets.

So... uhh... any suggestions for what to do with 3 extra dpns? ::feels stupid::

My primary concern is storage space... I'm running out of pockets in my needle-folder-thingy.

I suppose I'll just have to find a way to spring for a bigger one...

I'm not going to admit to how many sets of 3.25 mm dpns I have! But what I will often do is leave a sock finished up to the grafting on a pair of dpns. I will then knit up the next sock, and graft both socks at the same time. I started doing this before I learned how to do the kitchener stitch, and would use various methods to close the toes... that way they would "match".

Hrm. I haven't tried socks ribbing-down yet. Maybe after I finish this pair here...

Put them in strategic spots all over the house, and use them as follows.

PDA stylus
Fingernail Cleaner
Grime Cleaner in tight spots
Phone Dialer when you've just had a manicure

I'm sure you'll think of others.

Whaddaya know, I was just complaining the other day about how the Nintendo DS stylus gives me hand cramps. Not sure a tiny aluminum dpn would be better...

But I'm surprised I didn't think of fingernail-cleaning before. I'm obsessive about clean fingernails. In fact, I think I'll clean them right now.

Our Universal Remote Control in the living room never works, so I always use the Clie Remote on my Sony Clie PDA. Most of the time, I'm knitting while I watch TV, so I just use my knitting needle to change channels on the PDA. It's easier than setting everything down to get out the stylus!

extra dpn's
When making a baby sweater. I used extra dpn's to hold the first part of the work while I did the rest. I put the little point covers on each end and the work stayed on nicely.

I agree...they make great stitch holders

Also...if you want extra needles but don't need a full set, Carol ( www.taraknit.com ) usually has partial sets in stock (reuse! recycle!). :D
