Trying to figure out this pocket thing Help!!!
I am doing this sweater http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/kjif-earthtone.html I am at the left front: Join pocket: next row (RS). I am so lost. Is the pocket lining going to be on the inside of the sweater? When it says ending with a WS row does that mean I have just finished a knit row or a purl row. I know with this sweater the purling side is the inside and the knitting side is the outside. I am just so not sure how to add this pocket on and I am getting really frustrated. I know no one that knits so I can't go to them and say what do I do now. Please help!

Ending with a WS row means the last row you work is the purl side for this pattern.

On the next row, knit however many stitches you need for your size, put 26 stitches on a holder, then knit across the stitches of the pocket lining you made. The 26 stitches that you put on a holder will be picked up later to add an edging.

Continue working the sweater from this point.

If you look at the finishing section of the directions, you'll see where you add the edging and sew in the rest of the pocket lining.

So do I take the stiches of the pocket lining that are on the holder and put them on my needle to make it easier to knit? I had noticed the finishing part, but still wasn't real clear as to what to do. Sorry I am probably making this harder then it is and once I catch on I will probably want to kick myself. The v-neck shaping and all of the neck stuff I am not understanding either. Oh well will deal with that when I get there. Thanks for your help!

Yes, slip the stitches from the holder for the pocket onto the left needle and then knit across them and the rest of the side.

As you get to the shaping, it will be easier to understand with the knitting in front of you. And you know where to come if you need help!

Your not kidding it is great to be able to come here. You all are so wonderful and so helpful. I am not sure what I would do without you all. I will probably be here quit frequently through the rest of this pattern. LOL!

Ok when I did the join row the sweater part that is facing me is the right side and it says to put the pocket RS facing me and stitch it on. If I do that then the inside opening on my pocket is going to be on the inside of the sweater when you have it on. So does that mean that I have the wrong side of the sweater facing me. Do I need to knit another row so that the purl side is the side that is facing me not the knit side. I bet you kind of wish you could smack me....LOL.

I don't want to smack you, but it would be easier to see what you're doing.

What I get is that you should have the right side of the sweater facing you and the pocket on the inside of the sweater, knit on. Later you'll bring the bottom of the pocket up and sew it to the bottom side of the opening. Does that make any sense at all? Not that you won't understand, mind you, I'm just not sure I'm understanding.
