Knitting Magazine Heaven

I went to the local used bookstore today where I just about NEVER find any knitting books or magazines. Today I found loads of back issues of Interweave Knits and Family Circle Easy Knitting and Knit in Style. They all jumped into my shopping cart!

:thinking: Knitting mags tend to jump into my cart as well. I don't know how it happens really. One minute they are on the shelves and the next in my cart

Maybe they know they will have a good home with me. Thats it!

Since I'm new to knitting, what would you recommend as your favorite magazines and books. I've finished my first scarf--it is a prerequisite to any other project. Right? And I'm currently making a felted needle case. (I'm about to spend more time than anyone should in an plane/airport, and wanted something where I wouldn't have to count. It's just one huge square!)

Now, what magazines would you recommend that have simple projects and good tips to feed this new obsession?

Family Circle Easy Knitting is a good one for beginners. Each issue has several patterns that newbie knitters can make, and would want to make!

Creative Knitting also has some pretty simple patterns, in fact, I'm just seaming up a pullover from one of their recent issues. Knit Simple is a new one from Vogue, but with only two issues out so far, I haven't made a decision as to whether or not it's a "beginner" magazine or not. The designs in it do tend to be more timely than the previous two I mentioned.

Interweave Knits and Vogue Knitting are definitely a lot more upscale in pattern style as well as difficulty. I do find them to be invaluable even if none of the projects inspire me, as the articles are always very interesting and informative.

I like Family Circle Easy Knitting, although it's recently gone through some weird changes. First it was announced that it would be changing into Knit Simple (after apparently some musical chairs with the parent companies.) Then the FC folks decided they wanted to keep a knitting magazine after all. So FCEK is still in production.

I also like Creative Knitting. And Simply Knitting (a British magazine with lots of projects using insanely expensive yarns but oh well!)

It IS amazing how those magazines take on a life of their own and jump into my shopping cart though.
