Hi everyone. I am so excited because I finally got hold of a digital camera and can post a finished object.

I just started knitting in February and have played around a lot with knitting and frogging to get the jist of things. This website has been a tremendous help to me with the videos and ability to ask questions. Thanks so much.
My first projects are both from
Knitting for Dummies by Pam Allen:
"
Tassel Hat", p.102. This hat is knit flat and sewn up the back.
Needles: size 8 long straight aluminum (instead of the recommended size 7's).
Yarn: Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk, Colour 25007 (three 50g balls)
"
Garter Ridge Scarf", p. 95
Needles: same as for hat (as called for by pattern)
Yarn: same but took 4 balls to achieve 8.5x42" dimensions
Tips to Share- The scarf's pattern isn't as pretty on the back - and this wasn't expressed clearly in the book. Also, I would probably do a wider selvage than just one stitch (like she recommended). One stitch on helps the rolling problem, but I'd like it to lie a little flatter.
