You could donate to a local hospital baby unit? Or perhaps something like Barnardos.

Here are some suggestions...

http://ww2.kcd.org/staff/stringfellow/stitchforacause/

http://www.charitablecrafters.org/index.html

Charitable Crafters has lots of ideas about knitting (and other crafting) for charity. Good site.

You could find lots more by searching under "charity knitting"...or something like that.

:D

Donate your beautiful blanket here... please
YES!!! You could donate to thepreemie project it is an organization in which all baby items are donated to preemies and regular sized newborns in need. It is a really great organization..I am a member and so is my best friend, Jenn and Jenelle another girl on kh. We are always in need of blankets.

thepreemieproject.com

check it out.. you'll it

This organization is so great They have so many features other organizations don't have. such as set schedules/donation dates.
They even have photo albums that display the item donated which also gives credit to the volunteer ...that is if you wish of course. If not you don't have to give your name.

Here are a couple of things I donated to them :XX:
Booties for bereavement:

and hats for 3-5 lb preemie babies:

Miscellaneous:

I am in the process of making a blanket to donate

We could learn a lot from crayons:some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names,
and all are different colors....
but they all exist very nicely in the same box.

My DD was a preemie, and received a blanket from the Linus project and I remember taking so much comfot in that blanket. Someone who we didn't know, who we would likely never meet made that blanket, and gave it to my DD who was so tiny, and struggling. I can't describe it, but I was so warmed by the thoughtfulness of that person. DD is 2 1/2 and still sleeps with that blanket!

I work w/ a group called Newborns in Need and there is at least one chapter in each state. Do a google search...I think it's newbornsinneed.org and find your local chapter. They'll take it as long as it's not "holey", yellow, or green. Most places won't take yellow blankets.

Anya:

I didn't know this until recently either, but many preemies are born jaundiced (where their liver can't handle the overload of bilirubin) and it gives their skin a yellow cast. Now, would you want your baby wrapped in a yellow blanket when they are already yellow?? lol....I didn't think so.
