cast on too tight
Been knitting ~ 1 month. Am trying to knit a poncho and I'm using a double cast-on on a larger needle, size 13 (b/c I cast on VERY tight) and switching to an 11 but find that the more I knit, my cast-on doesn't stretch, it's almost like I've gathered the fabric....I do find I loosen up the more I knit, is it possible that's my problem?

 Have you tried one of the other cast on methods?

Try knitting on, there's a video in the basics section. Another hint is to hold two needles (the size you will be working with) together and cast on, then you can slide one of the needles out and you are ready to go with a looser cast on.
