WANTED: 14 x 20 Stocking Stitch Swatch

Help me get my home business lifted off the ground! I am making knitted purses (made one for myself and loved it!).

Here's a way of getting rid of some of your stash! I am looking for 14x20 inch stocking stitch swatch in any color. Varigated yarns are welcome too! They have to be well knit. You may use heavy weight yarn but not too bulky because the knit is too large for the bag. I suggest Lion Brand's "Landscapes" or similar weight.

I will pay $2.00 per swatch if used for my purses (payable via pay pal or check we can decide together). All other swatches will be donated but I suspect that I will be using them all!!!

Here's some background info about me:
I am 29 years old and a mother of 3. My husband and I just bought our first home in Northern Virginia ($$$) and we are living on one income...his! I am a stay at home mom with a toddler and need to help with the mortgage.

I've always had an interest in crafting and do many things at home; sewing, crocheting and cooking to name a few. I will be selling items on www.bellacose.etsy.com (I hope)!

Y'know.. usually I'm more than happy to help a fellow entrepreneur... but to be perfectly honest, $2 per swatch seems a little on the 'not worth my time' scale.

The yarn itself would cost more than that. Not to mention, time, postage etc...

Not to be a downer.. but... y'know.. my time is precious..

I guess I was more focused on those that have stashes that they don't know what to do with. I have a ton of yarn that I've been making swatches and donating to Warm Up America. I now have the ability to help my family and thought that maybe there would be someone like me. Someone who has extra yarn lying around that needs to be knitted!

As far as postage, it couldn't be that much could it? For a knitted swatch; or even a few? I guess if anyone has an issue with postage, let me know and we'll work something out. No stress.

Like I said, I'm reaching out for some help. Help me help myself. I appreciate all the comments and criticizm, it's the only way I can be successful!

19x30 INCHES?! That would be mother of all swatches and would take me forever!

Just how big are these purses?!

:thinking: I measured the bag I made (I forgot the original demensions) and it came about to that size: 19x30. Essentialy, it will be folded in half so it will be slightly longer that higher. But now that I think about it, it does seem kind of big!!!

Any suggestions? Let's start easier...12x24 inches maybe? I'll re-post ... somehow! I'll have to contact the moderators!

A purse that is 30 inches even folded in half is 15 inches deep. That seems huge to me! I've got several things going right now, but if I can I'll help you out.

It'd be different for me, because I'm in Australia.. so yeah.. postage would cost me at least $5..

I wasn't trying to be heavily critical.. just that for $2 it might not be 'incentive' for people to help you start a business.

Charity is another thing altogether.

I agree. For me to knit that swatch, it would cost me a minimum of $20.00 in time alone. That is going by $4.00 an hour. I am not a very slow knitter, but I'm not fast either. Now, if the swatch only took 10 minutes to knit up, yeah, $2.00 would be okay for labor, but I'm sorry. I can't afford to be that givng. I don't buy cheap yarn, so my stash isn't something I'd willingly just give away, and my time is money.

I really don't think to many people are going to do this for you, unless you can offer them a % of the total profit from the bag they essentially are making for you.

I'm sorry, but that is just how I feel about it.
