Bucket Hat Brim

I am knitting the Chic Knits Bucket Hat (not a free pattern), but you can see a pic of it on their site. The brim of the hat is done in garter stitch. I don't particularly like the way garter stitch looks, so I was wondering if doing the brim in seed stitch would ruin the structure of the hat.

And thoughts?

I don't think so. Seed stitch is sturdy and reversible like garter stitch. I do NOT think it would work in stockinette.

Thanks for your input Hildy. I'm gonna give it a try tonight. I think I'm going to double the yarn to try a make the brim sturdier/stiffer and do the seed stitch.
