Yarn Substitution for Suss Love

I really want to make Viveka from knitty. But...if I use the yarn they call for, it'd be over $160! Which is waaayyy too much.

Suss Love is 100% Tactel Nylon with a gauge of 5 stitches and 6 rows per inch on US 6-8.

Any ideas??

I was thinking of maybe using Malabrigo, but I'd really have to fiddle with the pattern or with the needles because the gauge would be off.
