Felting yarn?

Does it matter if the yarn you use for felting be 100 percent Wool.
Or, can you still get good effects with just 40 percent?
Just wondering.... :thinking:

It will depend on what makes up that other 60%, if it's another animal source fiber like mohair or alpaca, yes it should felt (as long as that wool is not superwash). If it's manmade, acrylic, nylon, etc., then you probably won't have very good felting results.

Makes me wonder, is there such a thing as superwash alpaca? :thinking:

But I did just felt with Karaoke, by SWTC, which is 50% wool and 50% "soy silk". It felts much like Kureyon, but with a different texture. I was surprised that it would felt at all, with that little bit of wool, but the label said it would work, so I gave it a shot.

Swatch! Even though it is boring, swatch. You never know!
