Hello,
I am trying to knit my very first pair of socks using the toe-up "You're Putting Me On"
http://tiajudy.com/putmeon.htm pattern. I've managed to do the figure-eight cast-on and complete the first few rounds. However, I am at a loss as to how to tighten up the loose cast-on stitches in the middle.
The pattern says, "Sometime after you've knitted a couple of rounds you will be able to tighten up the cast-on, using a crochet hook to work the slack toward the tail of the yarn."
Toe-up sock cast-on instructions on knitty.com (
http://www.knitty.com/issuewinter02/FEATtiptoptoes.html) say, "The stitches in the middle of your work may be loose, but you can tighten them up a little by working the excess yarn towards one side after you have completed a couple of rounds."
I'm not sure how to do that; if someone could/would explain these instructions to me, I would greatly appreciate the help.
Thank you all in advance for your help!
