Reading charts
Hello!

I'm thinking of doing Soleil from Knitty - the only thing is when I look at the lace chart I'm a bit confused... do I read it from left to right?

Is that how one generally reads charts - from left to right? I've been using patterns that have it all written out which I found a bit easier to follow since I looked at the charts and went cross eyed!

Thanks!

Charts are read from right to left for the front and left to right for the back.

If you're knitting in the round, then every round is read from right to left.

You got it!

When you think about it, we knit from right to left, so the chart is written as the knitting is done.

I just went out, sat on the balcony at work, and did two rows of my current project (bombshell from big girl knits) and thought about what you'd said. Yep I see now we do knit from right to left. I was thinking I'm holding it in my left hand so I'm taking it into my right hand (left to right) but when I thought about what you'd said and knitted again, it all fell into place!

Thank you Ingrid =D
