Need help with butterfly stitch

Hello!

I am a beginner knitter and I have just started to play around with new stitches. I'm working on the butterfly stitch and I'm having strouble gathering the slipped stitches together. I understand that I have to make a gathering yarn over - I'm just having trouble executing it! Thanks for any help!

There are different versions of Butterfly stitch--at least from my search.

What is it the directions are telling you to do?
