Teddy bears... knit flat?
I just picked up a copy of a book of knitted teddy bear patterns, and the first thing I noticed was that all the patterns are knit flat. I'm not deathly allergic to seaming, but I'd just as soon not do it when I don't have to. Is there a reason not to knit easy things like arms and legs in the round? I'm sure the designer has her reasons, but since she hasn't seen fit to share them with me, I'm wondering if anyone else is willing to enlighten me. (Besides, all the tiny needle sizes the patterns call for I only have in DPNs. )
