picking up
when you pick up stiches when doing a sweater how do you attach the yarn to start?

I usually just pull the yarn through on the first stitch, and then pull the tail and the yarn through on the second (and treat these two loops as one stitch on the next row.) That secures it and you can weave in the end later.
