Plus size and maternity sweater pattern?
Hello all! I was wondering if anyone might be able to help.

I am looking for two sweater patterns -

1. I'd love to knit a nice loose and comfy maternity sweater for myself and
2. My friend, who is also pregnant would like a sweater made for her. She is a plus size woman (about size 24) and finding plus size patterns is proving to be a bit of a hassle. Grrr!! I don't know WHY on earth all the patterns are made for super skinny woman. Anyway... does anyone happen to know of a good place I can find a free plus size sweater pattern on the net?

I've looked at a book called "Big Girl Knits" but it will take 4-6 weeks to ship it over here *sigh* as will any other book I've managed to find. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

There's a site for larger women called ampleknitters.com. They have some large size patterns, and a mailing list where you may find more patterns.

http://cache.lionbrand.com/patterns/...html?noImages=

Lionbrand has a maternity top on their website (although the picture isn't
very good, doesn't really show what it looks like) and it goes up to a 1X, and you might be able to size it up a bit with a larger yarn/gauge and by the ratio of stitches (looks like about 2 stitch difference between sizes).

You might want to try Vermont Fibers and my fave, White Lies Designs.

That ample knitters site is one of the best in terms of having links to all of the places that have plus-size patterns.

I'm plus-size and if I just wanted a very basic cardigan or sweather, I'd probably use one of the patterns from the Lion Brand web site.

If you want to make her something really special, you might want to wait for that Big Girl Knits book... seriously. The patterns are just... awesome! And very flattering.

Doesn't Just One More Row has lots of plus-size patterns, I think most all of her stuff comes in plus sizes.

You must be a great friend to make a sweater for your friend!

I just started a blog that lists all the plus-size patterns I've found on the internet. Some are free, some aren't.
