What do I really need?
So I have my spindle and some merino roving on order, what else do I really need to start spinning? I've seen some hand cards, but they seem awfully expensive!

All you need is a spindle and some roving. It's fantastically simple!

It's nice to have a niddy noddy, but I spun for a while without one. I looked at them at the spinning store and I was all at the cost...I headed over to the hardware store and made a PVC one for under $3 :D

Things like combs and cards aren't necessary unless you want to prepare your own fiber...it's probably best to see if you like spinning first! And if you do, you'll want to start saving for a wheel right away

Spindle, prepared fiber of your choice, and patience. That's it! Should you like it, invest in a book or better yet meet spinners. Post pics please of your creations! Love seeing them.

Ya know how some yarn comes in big skeins like a big circle twisted up vs the balls you can get? Well the niddy noddy allows you to make "skeins" and you do this because it puts less stress on the yarn then a ball, your not supposed to ball it till you use it!

It also makes it easy to count yards as often times they comes in sizes so you just count it after you wind it up and then you know how many y ards!
