Feather and Fan Saga Continues
OK, I put in the stitch markers Co 54 every 18 stitches. Knit first row,
Purl second row, all is well.

Did the pattern row, k2tog, YO, knit 6..........one extra stitch shows up at the end!!!

I plod on, another knit row. I knitted the first 18 and I have 13 stitches!!!!

When the two attached stitches come up, I knit them as one and not separate them, right? How did I wind up with 13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am going out of my mind. I counted religiously........what am I doing wrong?????

I think I know what your problem is. It's not K2tog, yo, K6. The (yo, K1) are in brackets because you need to repeat everything that's in brackets, six times.

So it is K2tog, yo k1 yo k1 yo k1 yo k1 yo k1 yo k1........and so on with the rest of the pattern.

.(k2tog) 3x, (YO. knit 1) 6X, (k2tog 3X)

I'm not sure what you mean by When the two attached stitches come up, I knit them as one and not separate them, right? How did I wind up with 13!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think your pattern repeat should be 18 + 12, not 18

You have 6, 18, 18, 18, 18, 6

The 6 at the beginning and the end are the 3 k2togs.

The 18 in the middle are the (yo, k1) 6x plus the (k2tog) 6 times in a row.

You have the 18 stitch repeats with 6 stitches on each end, in other words.

Feather and Fan continued
I finished out the row and I have 37 stitches. How? Why? What?

I k2tog, I place the yarn over and knit, place the yarn over and knit......the required 6 times.

OK the screw up has to be on the row after the pattern row.......where I am with 37 stitches.

So I should separate the two stitches that are linked?

I know I'm not making sense......this is not relaxing, it is making me compulsive and crazy.

You are all so helpful, and I appreciate it sincerely. I can do bramble, cable, eyelet mock cable, diagonal seed, etc.

WHY CAN'T I JUST MAKE A CRUMMY SCARF OUT OF FEATHER AND FAN????????

Please explain the two stitches that are linked part. I don't get it.

Maybe you're not purling the yo's properly? That could be it. You might see them as 'linked' stitches, but they are individual and should be purled as such.
