Carrying yarn up for stripes in the round

Hi all, I just registered and I already have a question!

I'm about to start a sweater that's all knit in the round, top down. On the sleeves, there will be narrow stripes (4 rounds one color, 1 round another color). How am I supposed to carry the yarn up (or down, actually, in this case)? I know how to do it on the selvage of a flat piece, but I'm not sure how to go about it when knitting in the round.

I imagine that if you hold the carried yarn up against the back of the knitting and bring the working yarn behind it, it will be carried up the side without a loop forming on the inside. Just keep everything relaxed and you should be fine.

If you don't care about a loop, then you can just grab it when you need it, just not pulling it tight.
