Carry the yarn up work...?

Hello all,

I just started knitting the "Looy" scarf (found in the archives section of www.knitty.com under the "scarves" heading).

Unfortunatley I'm at a halt because I do not understand one of the instructions. It says to "carry the yarn loosely up the edge of the work".

Here is how I interpreted it, but I am reluctant to even try because I'm dealing with really expensive yarn (and dont want to mess up!): ??? - Just pull it up the side of the work, without weaving it in or anything. Wont this just greate a big hole at the side of the scarf?

I'd love to continue knitting right now but I'm stuck!

It sounds like it will create a loop at the edge of the work, and it will be part of the pattern. Give it a shot on some waste yarn if you're not sure if you'll like the way it looks.
