hey, guess what i did?

i figure this is the place for me to tell this story. i'm in a production of sleepy hollow (one show october 28 for those in the north alabama area

and i've been bringing my knitting with me every night. i've recently learned and have only in the past two weeks been comfortable enough with what i'm doing that i can knit and read at the same time. so, one of the little girls there asked me if i could teach her how. i brought her some kids needles (the lion brand ones - how cute are those things?) and some of my old yarn, and she just went to town! wasn't really doing it right, but had a ball! (i'm going to keep working with her, but i was so impressed! she's not quite six!) so, now i have four other ladies in the show that are buying needles this week so i can get them started on saturday! hooray! knitting...let it spread like the plague!

That's so great!!!

One time when I was knitting at the doctor's office in the waiting room, a girl around 16 or so seemed interested in my knitting, then said something to the effect of, "I'd never be able to do something like that". I felt so bad that I didn't have any knitting needles and yarn to show her how to do it and let her keep them. I should buy some needles and yarn for when I'm KIP and if somebody shows an interest, I can show them and let them take them home. Truly, we can all be "knitting ambassadors"!

Another missionary knitter! I just love it when people show an interest and then actually follow through with an attempt. Makes me happy to share things I love with people, especially people I care about. Can't get my brother to take up knitting, though, try as I might. Wuss.

I truly like the idea of having a set of needles and ball of yarn in my little KIPing bag in case someone wants to learn! Terrific idea! Thanks!!! It wouldn't take much to put it together in a zippy bag and have it ready to share. And maybe enough to make a garter stitch hat............. samm
