OT -- Any hairstylists here?
I'd really like a new hairstyle, but I have no ldea where to look. I know stylists usually have those hairstyle books in their salons, but I'd prefer be able to go in there with something I already know I like, rather than looking for something I might not find. My hair is pretty long, about the middle of my back, and sort of layered, shorter around my face.

When I chopped off my hair, I went into B&N and took all the "short hair" magazines off the shelf and looked through them, and then I bought the one I liked and showed it to my hairdresser. And she didn't have the issue, so she bought it off me.

Well, what are you looking to change? The length? Color? If your hair is curly, do you wanna try to straighten it? If it's straight, do you wanna curl it?

Those are all little virtual makeover site things. I don't think they are really -that- useful, but they are fun to play around with sometimes.

Oh, also, just do a google search for short hair style gallery, or long hair, or whatever you had in mind. Or, just hair style gallery for a nice broad look to help you narrow it down.

Whenever I want a change, I always ask my stylist what she suggests. She has never failed me, yet. That is why I pay her the big bucks.

Um, maybe it was just me, but the stuff I came up with on Google was HORRIBLE. It looked like it had all been scanned in from some 80's glam hairstyling book. NOTHING practical. That's why I went to the magazines. At least they were current!

I'm not a hairstylist, but I am a beauty school dropout. Does that count? I like the sites like iVillage where you can actually see the new you.

Oh Hildie, that is great! Isn't that Andrea's hair?

Stupid Flash plug-in.

Here's my photo, if anyone wants to "make me over".
