knitting in "D" rings

I can't seem to figure out how to knit the rings in before I felt my handbag! Any suggestions?

I lent my book to a friend, so I'm left to figure out how to attatch them on my own! The pattern is in Pursenalities Plus - 2nd book.I'm making a cell phone bag

Are you knitting the blue one on the 3rd viewing page here? If so, it looks like the rings are just sewn in, I've done this before when knitting garments, I just gathered the knit sts and folded them over the ring and sewed them in using the yarn that I was working with.

On Knitty Gritty last season I think, someone showed how to make belts and knit onto an O-ring. I think you could probably do the same thing. Let me see if I can find the link to that show. Ok, it was D-rings and it was episode DKNG-307. I just went to the DIY site and clicked on crafts, then knitting and it was not too far down the list. Hope this helps.
