raglan shaping

Hi,

I'm altering (increasing), a raglan hoodie jacket the pattern is from yr 4 to 11yrs. When it comes to the raglan armholes the pattern says' repeat till *** stitches remain.
0 = 4/5 yr - 39 st remain
1= 6/7 yr - 39 st "
1= 8/9 yr - 43 st "
2= 10/11yr - 43 st "

The pattern seems to have a difference of 4 stitches between sizes, so, my question is should I carry on until
there are 47 stitches left or 43 stitches?

Hi

As for me i will go with 47 sts ...as they are still growing ...they will grow into it sooner than u think...and the difference of 4 sts ...it would not have been any big differences... just ease it on the stitch when you stitch it up with the body...hope this helps

Personally, if it says 43sts then I'd go only that far. Especially with raglans, the shaping can be kind of critical for it to all line up with the sleeves and front/back. A bigger difference with kids than armhole size is sleeve length, so that's where I'd be more likely to compensate.

Wow! that's a quick reply, thanks.

I am knitting a bigger size. I'd started knitting than realized her chest is only 2" smaller than me, size 32", she's only 9yrs old. I was quite shocked.
