need hat help - must finish tonight for gift!
Hi all,

In this pattern, I have come to the decrease for the garter rib hat. After my first decrease of K2, P2tog the instructions say do five rounds in patter 'as established'..

does that mean 5 rounds in the original K2, P2 or 5 rounds in the new pattern of K2 P1..

It says it again after the next decrease as well... so what with the 'pattern as established' be then?

Thanks for the help.

Cara

It means the new pattern that your decreases have left you with - in this case K2 P1 for the first section, then K1 P1 for the second and so on. Good luck finishing your project!

You've got the right idea. Your ribbing is reduced to k2, p1 after the first decrease, so you do that for 5 rounds, then the next dec is k2tog, p1 so the ribbing changes to k1,p1 work 3 rounds that way. On the next decrease, you'll also end up with a k1, p1, but kind of centered--you'll be able to see it when you get to that point.
