Lifeline Question
I am working on a lace scarf and I was wondering how often you would put in a lifeline on a twenty row repeat. I am sure it is a personal preference but what are thoughts from the peanut gallery??????

I generally put one in if there's a row that's especially complicated coming up. If the pattern tends to flow pretty easily, I put one in 'after a while.' That is, when I notice that there hasn't been one for a while. The problem with that is that I don't always remember what row I was on if I have to go back to the lifeline. So it's probably best to mark your pattern, or put one in after a certain row.

I do my lifelines on the last row of a repeat. I'd rather rip out 20 rows than the whole thing.

I know that I should put it at the same row every time, but I don't, I just pick a row after it's been a while like Ingrid said. If I am working on a pattern that has some all knit or all purl rows then I do NOT put it on those. The reason is that I can't tell where in the work I am at. Most lace patterns begin or end different (many are different at both parts) and I have found that I can figure out where I am by looking at the work.

I hope this helps. And make sense......

I've been putting in a lifeline about every 4 or 5 rows, but the pattern I'm making is different on every other row. I just keep a sticky note stuck to my pattern and I write on it what row number my lifeline is on. It's saved me a lot of frustration.
