Michael's yarn sale

Why didn't I know about this big yarn sale at Michael's? I guess all brands are on sale!? The one week I don't check their website for the ad!

On another forum I was reading people were talking about how they were worried their stores would be really picked over by Wednesday. Do you think this is true? I am going tomorrow, but I will be so bummed if there's only fun fur and red heart to sift through!

They still had a very good selection on Tuesday. I'll be going back tomorrow, though!

Most wool was just $1 off....I bought some of their new wool yarn..."Lion Brand" and it rang up to be $4 instead of the $5 (reduced from $5.99 limited colors, and the smaller skeins of muticolored wool was SO irregular in color and faded, I would not have trusted it for anything (forget the brand name of it, but it was Marino, just in smaller skeins)
Not ALL yarn was sale priced, but a good portion of it was and not much variety in the store I visited, but I heard there are much larger stores than the one in my city....
Some of the 'crafty' "yarn" was $2, but they were very small tiny quantities.
Still a SALE is a SALE! Over on the 21st (sat nite)

Thanks for the info! I live about 3 miles from a rather small Michael's, so I'm wondering if I should drive the 15-20 minutes to the nice big Michael's. decisions, decisions!

Go to the smaller store near you first, (buy nothing) then drive to the larger store..see what they have, get all you can, then go back to the smaller store with your list of what they have that the larger store didn't
But then, that's me~~~~haha
Then, repeat (if nececcasry)
But, do go!
PS My smaller store was not picked over, there was plenty of inventory, but I just keep thinking that a larger store HAD TO have more choices in colors, and probably more yarn, but more choices for sure..I would hope..the choices at the smaller store were not widely varied.
12 colors (at most) in each brand, and only 2 brands (of wool)
the crafty yarn was starting to get picked over, but there was still plenty where I shop...hope that helps you to decide.
(spending $20-$40 smaller store....over $40 go for the big one)

I bought some patons classic merino there last week...on Sunday I think...when did this sale begin? The Paton's was $1.00 off and I was looking at that Lion Brand 100% wool--I guess that's something new? I've never seen it before! Paton's also had their classic merino is "multicolor"--it was very pretty! Maybe I'll go and pick up some yarn for another of my Christmas presents...

No that's not just you! (must be the name) Where I just moved from, Michael's and JoAnn's were across the parking lot from each other, so I'd check out both. And the smaller JoAnn's on the other side of town often had a different selection of yarn.

I second the checking out of both stores....

I bought enough yarn there to keep myself busy for the next 6 months! I really liked the Bernat Satin, it was selling for just $2 Canadian for a skein (skeins are 100 grams). I'm knitting a Vogue Knitting sweater with it, and the yarn for the whole sweater ended up costing me just $12+tax!

I just got back from that sale today, and THANK YOU

to the person that posted the sale here, I had no idea and wouldn't have gone otherwise! I got a bunch of the red heart super soft to make a scarf for my little brother that he asked for, and some woolease to make some hats. I also picked up some new needles, and I saw the Boye needle kit there for $65. Not sure how I feel about the kits yet, so I passed. I've found that I like straight needles in plastic and circs in metal. no idea why.
