What does this mean in this pattern?

I'm knitting the sweater that I said I must knit before. It's this one:

In the directions for the back and front part (it's knitted in the round) on the 5th line it says "arrow applies to sleeve only". what does that mean? it's in reference to the chart for the pattern, but I don't get it. Doesn't the work go in the direction of the arrow on the body, too?
