Purl w/increases

I'm knitting Elann's Tapestry Shawl pattern and I'm on the Tapestry Square. Row 6: P, inc 1 st at each edge.....how do you do a purl increase? I know how to do a knit increase with no problem. I'd appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks so much.
