Next step up from scrunchable?
Okay, so my dad asked for a long, baby blue scarf for Christmas....he liked the plain ribbed one I made and wants one too. But I don't want to make another ribbed scarf right now because I am learning (I've been knitting for 16 days, now!!) and want to make him a scarf that will teach me a new stitch or pattern or something. I'm making the Scrunchable scarf right now and that is going fine...do you know of any manly, conservative scarf patterns that are a bit more difficult than the scrunchable?

There's the Irish Hiking Scarf which is beautiful and a very basic cable pattern. That would be a new skill for sure, but cables are not near as scary as one might think. It would give you lots of practice too!

that looks fun...I don't know if my Dad would like cables, though. I'm looking through all the scarf patterns at knittingpatterncentral.com right now...I'll find something fun.

That's the scarf I'm knitting for my Dad for X-mas. Not sure if he likes cables either, but I'm sure he'll appreciate all the hard work and love it. And if he doesn't want it, I'll keep it myself, just love the pattern.
