Need some advice for knitting patterns for kids to knit
My best friend's daughter (she's 10) wants me to teach her how to knit. We're gonna start with the requisite scarf, of course, :D but she wants to knit a baby blanket for her cousin who's expecting her first baby in March. Anyone know where I can find an easy baby blanket pattern that a 10-year old can knit without getting bored/overwhelmed? Thanks!
See if your libray has any of the following books:
Kids Knit (don't have on shelf at the moment)
Kids Knitting (Melanie Falick)
Kids can Knit (Carolyn Clewer)
Teen Knitting Club (Jennifer Wenger)
I don't know the authors off hand, but I purchased the above books for my 10yo dd and me. Although we've knit projects from all of them, I found Kids Knitting by Melanie Falick the best of the lot.
I made a ton of scarves & hats from Teen Knitting for relatives that were a hit. Dd loved making the bean bags, and easy hat from Kids Knitting.
I found it was best for dd to use size 10 or 10.5 needles and chunky yarn. She started and finished a bean bag out of Falick's book in an afternoon.
