I was introduced to knitting at a very young age. My mom has knit since I have memories. I picked it up in my 20's for a few years, making some afghans, but didn’t begin again until my middle 40's. And now I am hooked!!!

Anyone out there from Minnesota?

Hi Wanda, my story is quite similar to yours! I'm from the twin cities.
I was taught young, and completely forgot.
Then in my 20's, I re-taught myself from a book, made a few afghans, and acquired a ridiculous stash of yarn and unfinished wip's.
Now, in my almost mid 30's, I have caught the bug again. I am really into felting, and projects from the "Wrap Style" and "Scarf Style" books.
I really enjoy knitting with natural fibers...
Right now I am knitting "off-center argyle" from Wrap Style.
I also just bought the pattern for a Lucy Bag

Thanks so much for the response! Yes, amazing how similar our stories are. And I live in a suburb of the Twin Cities - but work downtown.!

I am knitting scarves! Have been going gonzoo with the Fancy Fur yarn by Lion Brand. Love the simplicity of scarf knitting with that yarn, although when I have an error and need to tear it out it can be a bit challenging getting those stitches back on (as I once again experienced last night). But my hair is still attached to my head and all is good.

The Lucy Bag looks great!! A gal friend of mine has felted some purses with great success.

My best purchase lately has been a pair of bamboo knitting needles which I LOVE! Forget the brand name but purchased at Michaels with the ever lovely 40% off coupon!

Hello!

My name is Tracie and I am also from the Twin Cities!

I started knititting about a year ago when I forced my mom to go to a class at our LYS. Needless to say, I now have the biggest stash.

I have this weekend off and knowing how cold it is to get here, all I can think of is staying home and knitting all weekend. I think my husband will not be happy about that.

Today I am wearing (for the first time) a scarf I just made and everyone is commenting on it. They are shocked when I say that I made it! FUN!

Currently, I am working on my first sock ever, a fair isle holiday stocking (maybe I'll finish by next Christmas) and a prayer shawl.

Just wanted to say HI from Fargo ND, right across the river from Moorhead MN. I go through the cities often as my brother and his family live near Hudson. I stop in Maple Grove to fit up on yarn rather than gas on my trips to see them. I would like to live in the TC's if hubby would agree to be closer to my family, but the drive is quick and there's lots to see and do.

Thanks for posting “neighbor.” I have driven through your town on the way to Canada many years in a row - on my way to the Winnipeg Folk Festival which I attended from about 1979 to 2000 - never missing a year.

Well, I tried to teach myself many times over the years (I'm 37), but I finally "got it" about 3 summers ago. Funny, I only found this sight not quite 2 years ago, but I feel like it's been longer as it has really helped me to "become" a knitter. I searched "free knitting videos" and the rest is history!

I'm embarrassed to say that I haven't been to Winnepeg since I was 5 with my folks. So close, yet I haven't been. Probably should do that as I hear more and more of all the fun things to see and do. Better get in the waiting line for passports, if anything that would make going there much more "internationale", folks with passports always seemed sort of cool to me.

Well, carry on... look forward to eavesdropping on some conversations!
