small felt project
Hi all,

I have never felted anything before, and I've got a skein (200yrds) of pure wool in a gorgeous Egg Plant color. It is 2 ply and reccomended needle size of 5mm.

Any suggestions for a simple but wearable first felting project? Or at least a useful one?

Thanks!

Cara

I'm not sure that would be enough to make something wearable that is felted. Felting shrinks up the fabric a lot.

Look through here and to see if anything catches your eye. There are several patterns that look like they use a small amount of yarn.

Felted Knits by Beverly Galeskas is a great resource! It has a wide variety of patterns and includes a lot of good information about felting.

I just finished a trivet that was super quick and easy to make. It was my first experience with felting, and very fun!

my first knitting project was a felted little mini purse/bag.

but I used two different colors, and actually double knitted. I think the one would have been enough if I wanted it super small.

I think I found what I am going to do and I think I have just enough yarn to do it.

either this one

or this one

My group of friends all enjoy wine, and we are doing a gift exchange this winter. It would also make a suitable hostess gift for the upcoming holiday season. I will be sure to trim it with something pretty too.

Thanks all for your suggestions!
