I just wanted to speak up in favor of the guild. I am sorry for Shandeh's past experience with it but I can tell you that this past year as a member I have not at all had that sort of experience with them. (And think you'll find that if you return, you won't see very many faces there that you may have seen before when you had a poor experience. If you can ever make it.)
One think I know about knitters is that they are very kind hearted and are understanding. I hope you will be too. The guild is a great resource for shared knowledge. We meet the first tuesday of each month, from 6pm to 8pm at Providence Baptist Church. You can see details on our blog
Also, as Tvini stated earlier, there is a weekly knit night at the Books-a-Million in Cotswold mall every wednesday. We usually arive around 7pm (some get there earlier but there's always someone there at 7) and meet until late - usually 9:30 or 10pm. We have a blog
so people can google knitting in charlotte and find their way to us. But it's not updated often. The meeting time never changes and is never cancelled.
Also also - the South Charlotte SnB (a yahoo group you can find here
) meets at the Panera Bread on South Tryon by 485 on alternating Monday's and Tuesdays starting around 5pm until late.
