How to tell right side from wrong side (cast on dictates no?
I'm still workin' away on the Vogue Fall cowl neck sweater (#20, page 131)

Why would it matter.... well, for the sleeve which is ribbed from the elbow down, I 've completed the ribbing for 13" now they say to end with a right side row and next side, the wrong side will now be the right side. I'm turning it over and over and it doesn't look any different being it's
ribbing except the edges curl in a bit on one side which might make a difference in seaming?

But doesn't your cast on dictate which is the right/wrong side? If you do the long tail cast on which I did, isn't the first row ach the wrong side!
Does it matter!

I'll bet you know who knows the answer to this!

If all you've done up to this point is ribbing, which is right/wrong matters very little. Unless a pattern specifies that you're starting on the right side or wrong side, I just assume that my first row worked is a right side row.

With the long tail cast on, if you assume your first row is a right side row, the tail from your cast on will be at the lower right corner of your work if the right side is facing you.

Thanks Knitqueen! Well, that's what I thought but needed verified, when the yarn tail is at the right that's the right side.

The difference is in the curling at the edges and I'm wondering if they stated this direction so it would be easier to sew up. It probably will not be a noticeable thing just that sewing up is easier. Wish I could ask the designer!

That's just the nature of ribbing when it's not yet seamed. I imagine that one edge of your ribbing has knit stitches and the other edge has purl stitches?? When you seam it up it will look like uninterrupted ribbing - the knits leading into the purls and vice versa - but for the time being it will curl a bit.

This is like instant messaging! (thanks)
Actually, the ends are the same because of number of stitches, 2 knit stitches on each end. This is driving me crazy looking at it. I just want to get on with it, the stockinette and finish the darn sleeve. They always throw something in to stump you ha.
