Elann's Peruvian Highland Worsted weight & KP

Has anyone used Elann's Peruvian Highland wool - is it an itchy yarn ? Is it a good yarn for making a sweater?
What about the Knitpicks brand yarns are they good?
I was talking to a friend about yarn and she advised me to stick to brand name yarns instead of Elann or KP . What do you think ladies ? Advise pls

In my opinion....

KP has good yarn for the price. Perfect for felting and such. However, having knit with their WOTA I'd say that *I* would not choose it to knit next to skin items. A sweater that would be over a shirt maybe. It seems....dry.....not too rough, but not soft. Better than Noro if that means anything, but not as good as something made from Merino.

My advice....whatever you decide...get a small amount and feel before you buy. One ball will let you test it before investing in a large amount.
