Advanced Beginning Knitter Needs Help Reading Pattern
Hello,

I'm a self taught beginning knitter...through books and DVD's. Stumped as to how to translate this section of the pattern:

Row 1 Slip 1 as if to knit, k1, pass slipped st over, k6-7sts.
Row 2 Slip 1 as if to knit, k1, pass slipped st over, k5-6sts.

and the pattern continues on until you reach k1-2sts.

I understand everything except the section ending k6-7sts and the k5-6sts and so on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Could the two numbers be for two different sizes?? How many stitches do you have on the needle as you start those instructions??

Thank for your reply.
The pattern is for a belt. There are only 8 stitches cast on. I got the pattern on the Lion's Brand website under free patterns.

Ahhh, it just clicked. K6 - 7 means that you will knit 6, and 7 stitches will remain after that row. Likewise for all the other rows.
