Transferring to Double Pointed Needles

Hello Everyone,

I'm in the midst of making a hat. I've been working on a circular needle and am about to switch to dpn doing the decrease. My question is, I think i tmattesr which side I start transferring from, correct? What I mean is, last time, when I was practicing, I think I did it backwards and when I followed the pattern, I was knitting where I had purled using the circular needle. I hope this makes sense.

Any information you have about transferring from a circular to double pointed needles would be much appreciated.

The easiest way to do it is to figure on how many dpns you are going to use and how many stitches you have, and just start knitting onto the dpns rather than the circ. So if you have 60sts total and are going to be working with 3dpns, you would have 20sts per dpn. So at the start of your round, with the stitches still on the circ, take an empty dpn and knit the first 20sts off the circ, onto the dpn. Then, take another empty dpn, knit the next 20sts off the circ, then take your third dpn and knit the last 20sts off and now you have all the stitches off the circ.
