Guidance needed for man's scarf

I'm knitting a simple scarf for a friend - plain garter stitch, but knit lengthwise.

Can anyone who's knit for a guy suggest a good length and width for this type of scarf. I started to make a really long one cause that's what I prefer, but maybe not so much for him?

I'm using Lorna's Laces Shepherd worsted and size 8 needles.

My very 1st project was a garter st scarf for my DH and it's about 72 inches long give or take. I made it long because I know he likes to wrap it several times. Have you observed how your friend likes to wrap his scarves. If not maybe you could get some hints from him without spilling the beans.

His height counts, too. If he's tall, he can carry off a loooong scarf. Long scarves on short men can look a bit silly, depending on his personal style.

you could always go to stores and compare the sizes of the mens scarves they carry there. I'm making my dad a scarf for Christmas and I've been using my husband's store bought scarves for comparison to see how long to make it.
