Do you like mohair?

A friend of mine said "I hate mohair, it's scratchy". I personally never wore anything made of mohair but certainly it doesn't look scratchy to me. I want to get some mohair yarn because I think it's so fluffy and they would make cute kids wear. Opinions?

Only mixed with other stuff. It's not itchy or scratchy, perse, but it's got this too smoothness that makes it feel weird by itself. Plus it sheds like crazy.

I haven't ever knit with Mohair but I do have mohair scarf and shrug. It is itchy. I wouldn't use it for something you want wear against your skin. But I like the pieces I have.

I like mohair it feels soft, looks cosy and it's warm but I can't wear it due to allergies.

Wearing a top underneath should help if your sensitive skinned.

I really think a lot depends on the type of mohair. Kid mohair is pretty soft. The Rowan Kidsilk feels really soft (kid mohair and silk), but I have never used it. I am using the Colinette Mohair on a project and it is a bit itchy, but I think will be fine with a shirt under it. It is not shedding.

May I suggest; go to a yarn shop or buy 1 ball and put it next to your skin or make up a swatch. It's the only way to know.

I don't like it because I find it makes me itch like crazy and the shedding makes me sneeze! I always think it looks nice but when I get close to it I realise I should be running 10 miles away as fast as I can
