Question about crochet hook
For anyone who crochets, I'm kind of confused about this pattern. It calls for a steel size 6 crochet hook. I have a G hook that says G/6. Is this the same thing, or are the numbered hooks smaller than the lettered ones?

This is why I stick to knitting, LOLOL! Things don't have 15 different names!!

Thanks in advance

Here's a chart for you:

And another:

what is the pattern? does it look like it's for a really tiny thing, like finely crocheted doily? If so, it means the steel hook size 6, which is way smaller than a G. What people should do is give mm sizes. Don't know much about those small steel hooks, as I've never used anything smaller than a D.

And if you think *knitting* is not confusing, just check out the How To forum on this board!

I think that it must be the smaller one, then. It's for this pattern:

Yeah, steel crochet hook size 6 is definitely the smaller one

I would think that it would be one of the small hooks used for thread... but it sure seems weird to use a thread-size hook for sport weight yarn. Seems like that would make a really stiff fabric, but then maybe that's what they're going for.
