Can someone help me with a lace chart?
I've become ambitious and have decided to make this: http://knitty.com/ISSUEspring05/PATTsoleil.html

Now, I'm reading the lace chart at the bottom but I've never done so so I googles and the Dummies site came up and it says this:

Quote:
The most important thing to remember about charts is that they represent the pattern of the knitted fabric as you're looking at it the right side of the fabric. This means that on wrong side rows (from left to right) you must purl any stitch that has a knit symbol and knit any stitch that has a purl symbol. This isn't difficult once you get the hang of it. The pattern key will remind you. Of course, if you're knitting in the round, you can follow the chart without worrying about whether you have the wrong side or right side of the fabric facing.
So, when I get to the second row, do I go K1, YO, K3 or YO, K3? Am I reading it left to right or right to left?

Thanks!

The body of 'Soleil' is written in the round, so every stitch that you work is on a RS row. Therefore, you will read every row of the chart from right to left. Row 2 will start with a YO.

In cases where you are knitting flat, back and forth, working both the right side and wrong side, RS rows on the chart would be read right to left and WS rows on the chart would be read left to right.
