The simplest way I know is to figure out the dimensions you want it to be, work out your gauge and just knit a rectangle in a rib or garter stitch. Then you can seam and leave an opening for a thumbhole. That's the way I made my first pair. You could even make them in the round that way and just bind off about 5 stitches where you want the thumbhole to be and cast the same # of stitches back in the next round.

Hope this helps!

i found this one but i dont like the yarn they used. its chunky, and all i have is worsted weight--so do i use a smaller or larger size needle?

smaller right?

Not smaller, that would give you more stitches per inch. Use a needle that gets you 12 sts/4"; you might be able to get it on the needle size they recommend with worsted weight yarn. Or go up to an 11. The mohairy stuff isn't chunky like thick yarns, but you need large needles to work with it, that's why they recommend then and it gets 3 sts/inch.
