here's the yarn I made with the brown shetland. I obviously hung it under my bed to dry, and haven't removed it yet. I was going to ply it but finally decided not to, I like the weight of it now and can get more final length out of what I have if I don't ply.

Here it is!

My first drop spindles came today. I drove out to the alpaca farm to get them. Took both because I didn't know which I would like and couldn't decide! I bought some alpaca roving, brown grey and some caramel. The alpacas are there and all have names and it will be like spinning Millie's fibre! Or whoever. I also was given a small lot of bright yellow wool to try too. Now to figure out how to drop spindle this roving!!! What you've spun is very lovely! I do hope I do as well! Wish me luck, samm

I'm sure your yarn will be amazing and I'm glad you liked mine. Good luck with your alpaca, I drool over alpaca but I want to use up all the wool I have before I buy any new roving. Make sure you post pics!

Hmm, haven't checked this thread in a while! I haven't been able to spin any this year (my new rm is a bit more anal about keeping things neat and clean than the last one was) but I'm hoping I'll be able to take some fiber and my spindle to Australia and do some work. Thanks everyone for checking out my yarn!

SO exciting!!! I was volunteering at the greyhound rescue tonight and one of the women there was talking about how the dogs can smell the difference when she comes straight from the barn. She has llamas and alpacas. I said I have an uncle who has some llamas, I've been meaning to interogate him about getting some wool because I've been learning to spin. Apparently she has an excess of fiber , so when I get back from Australia (Because thats pretty much when I'll have time and space to spin again) I can get some to spin . It can either be prepared up to roving for me, or I can prepare it myself. I think I need to get a wheel, because there's only so much I can spin on a drop spindle.
