Patchwork blanket - advice needed

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this wonderful forum and am a fairly new knitter. I've finished a couple of ribbed scarves which both came out really well and a hat which isn't quite as good.

I really love the yarn I used for these projects - Lamb's Pride Bulky - and am thinking of knitting squares with it to make up into a blanket. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what pattern to use for the squares. I'm thinking of trying moss stitch. Will this work with the yarn?
